DIY Bathroom Cleaning Products: Stop Buying & Start Making!

DIY bathroom cleaning products you can stop buying and start making at home. The bathroom is a place in your house that can get messy-quick. With dirty business conducted in your bathroom every day, usually by multiple people, it can be expensive to buy products that clean and refresh the bathroom. Save money, without investing much time, and make your own products right at home with some common household ingredients.

Here are my favorite recipes for easy and effective DIY bathroom cleaning products you can make at home!

Homemade Grout Cleaner

Make your own grout cleaner with two simple products- hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Create a paste and apply to the grout lines. Let the mixture sit for a while before scrubbing with an old toothbrush. Then use a cloth and warm water to wipe down the tile, scrubbing any spots you missed. Once cleaned, all of the grim and scum will be gone and the grout will look wicked clean!

Streak Free Glass Cleaner

Never buy blue window cleaner again, instead, make this easy, streak free, grass cleaner right at home. Most commercial window cleaners produce a streak free shine by leaving a wax, or film, on the window when cleaned. When you make a homemade, natural, window cleaner there is no waxy build up, leaving your windows truly clean. Just combine 1 cup water, 1/2 cup vinegar and a few drops of essential oils to make your own glass cleaner. To get the best streak free shine, use recycled newspaper to wash your windows. I know it sounds weird, but it works!

In a bowl, mix together 1 cup of baking soda, 1/4 citric acid (canning ingredient) and a tablespoon of dish washing liquid, then transfer to an ice cube tray or mold and let dry 12-24 hours. This homemade mold and mildew spray will not only rid your bathroom of chemicals, it also makes removal easier and leaves the bathroom smelling fresh. In a spray bottle combine equal amounts of water and hydrogen peroxide then add essential oils like lavender and tea tree oil. For a build up of mold or mildew spray, allow to sit for 20-30 minutes then scrub and wipe clean. Or, just spray and wipe down when used during routine cleaning.
